Power spot and clearing exchange APX today announces the February volumes of its power markets. A total volume of 7.07 TWh was traded and cleared on the exchange in February.
The volumes traded on the Power NL Day-Ahead auction recorded 3.82 TWh in February 2013. While 56.67 GWh was traded on the Dutch Intraday, a year-on-year increase of 48%.
A total of 79,093 trades were registered on the Dutch power market in February.
The volumes on the Belpex Day-Ahead auction recorded 50% year-on-year increase in traded volumes with 1.55 TWh traded, while 53.34 GWh was traded on the Belpex Intraday market.
A total of 20,860 trades were registered on the Belgian power market in February.
Like the continental markets, the Power UK market also recorded strong volumes on its continuous market and Day-Ahead auction with a total of 1.58 TWh traded. 1.16 TWh was traded on the continuous market while the Day-Ahead auction recorded a volume of 419.34 GWh, up by 11% from February 2012.
A total of 49,958 trades were registered on the UK power markets in February.
CWE Price Convergence
In February the entire CWE region had full price convergence for approximately 20% of the time. The Dutch market was connected 75% of the time with at least one neighbouring country (Germany or Belgium) and the Belgian market was converging with a neighbouring market (Netherlands or France) 100% of the time.
In February, the Dutch power index for the Day-Ahead Market, APX NL DAM Index, had a monthly average price of 52.54€/MWh. Belix, the index for the Belpex Day-Ahead Market, had a monthly average price of 55.56€/MWh. The UK power index for the Day-Ahead Market, UKPX Auction Base Index, had a monthly average price of 50.41£/MWh.
UKPX RPD Base Load Index (derived from APX Power UK’s Reference Price Data (RPD)) had a high of 65.74£MWh on 25 February and a low of 43.15£/MWh on 3 February.
UKPX RPD Industrial Peak Load Index (also RPD-derived) had a high of 79.46£/MWh on 25 February and a low of 46.92£/MWh on 3 February.
