Within the scope of energy transition, APX participates in scientific research with the University of Eindhoven (TU/e). Together with other partners, we are involved in the European project E-price.
From a business perspective we are also participating in the Smart Energy Collective (SEC) focusing on smart energy in practice.
APX is committed to design new products and services to the new electricity end user who is able to produce- or consume electricity, or both. These so-called Prosumers are able to control their energy consumption and/or (renewable) energy production.
The motivation of designing these products and services are:
- involving new prosumer parties in the market to obtain more liquidity
- improving market efficiency and produce more predictable product price indices
- supporting/boosting the transition to the smart use of energy and its transmission
- gaining market appreciation by our share in this transition
E-price
The increased use of renewable energy sources and the increased number of prosumers make the production and consumption of electricity less predictable, introducing larger imbalances in the electricity network. E-price aims to develop a secure, efficient and feasible price-based control concept for the European energy market, as presented in the scheme below:
